Choke Cherry Pancakes
Wow, we must have been tired, as we slept in 'till 8:20, and only then did I get up due some 10 motorcycles starting up-yes, they're still going to Sturgis. A little coffee & cookies & KK gets up & I proceed to the KOA breakfast. What a treat! Homemade( ground by the cook herself) Montana wholewheat cakes, sausage & coffee for 5 bucks! Then we get our stuff together & head down to the L&C Interpretive Center-yes, another one, but this one is focused on the portage around the great falls. first thing is a film by Ken Burns & very well done of course. A stroll thru the exhibits and especially great lifesize representation of the Corps pulling a loaded canoe up a hill. Out to the bikes and on the paths of the river & a stop at the "Giant Springs" state park. This was a Great spot & even Capt Lewis said so back in his journals in 1805-54 degree natural springs flowing from 400' down & pumping 1.5 mil gallons of crystal water into the Missouri river everyday! Off to lunch at the Missouri River Diner-so-so & then KK goes back on the trail & I go out to the route that I missed. Back at camp at 6:00-hit tehot tub for a bit& visit with some Canucks. Over to the camper to pay some bills, sip a cold Alaskan Amber & start a fire. KK's out shopping & brings home supper-chicken & pot salad & wine! A really good day & 55 miles & 2000'..KK 18 miles & some pool time. tomorrow, up to the KOA by Glacier Nat'l Park..oh, wildlife today..a pelican, a "roadkill elk", honkers, mallards & thousands of gulls. see ya..capt clark
