A strange journey

Well, I slept ok, despite the laptop crashing last night, so after breakfast, I went to the Geek Squad at Best Buy & they fixed it! so we're fine & running again. meanwhile a thunderstorm rolled through & toronado warnings were all about the area. So back at camp we had to wait for the rain to stop in order to fold up the camper. My planned ride to Washburn was put aside and off we go toward the L&C Interpretive Center (yes, another one). It was very well done & a replica of the dugout canoe had been made by volunteers. Then we went to the recreation of Fort Mandan, where the Corps spent the winter of '04/'05, and a guide too! Quite a place for 50 people to spend a frigid winter-1600 sq ft in all. Washburn had no campgrounds with facilities, so we went to Cross Ranch state park for the night-very remote but nice and right on the Missouri river. I went out for a hilly ride, and barely beat the massing thunderstorms back to camp. After the rain, we walked down to the river and watched the banks caving into the water. Only 24 miles today but 1100' of climb-KK 7. And did it rain and thunder! so bad that the ranger came to tell us we could go to the office if we wanted. A very strange day, but we made it and had a great night's sleep!
