South to Cherokee

I'm up at 7:15 & I have my stuff all ready for the bike trip & Don comes by at 8:15 and we load up & off we go for Wash, pA to meet up with a new guy, George Liener. We arrive early & have some breakfast bisquits & coffee, until George shows up, driven by his wife, Jenny. Looks like a good guy & we hit it off. load up & off we go to I-79 and a long day's drive to Cherokee, NC. Alunch stop & fuel in Beckley, WV. Lunch at Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant & it's pretty damn' good with the lunch specials! (George could pass for Steven Spielburg, the cap & all.) back on the road & even a few miles in TN, before rolling into Cherokee about 7:15 & check into the Great Smokey Inn. We attempt to eat at their restaurant, but it was pretty sad..service & food..they were out of this & out of that. But we manage to eat supper, shower & get ready for tomorrow (and ride two miles before hitting the sack at about 10:30) Lots of climbing on Sunday, with the Blue Ridge-BRP-luming just down the road.
